When studying the life of Christ and how He raised up His 12 disciples who became the apostolic leaders of the first generation church, you cannot help but notice how Jesus emphasized the priority of encountering God's love in order to effectively reach out to the lost. The first commandment must be in its proper place by being first, not second or further down the list.
“And He went up on the mountain and called to ...Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons.” Mark 3:13-15 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do... I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word... For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.” John 17:3-4, 6, 8
